The NIMCET 2024 exam was conducted on June 8, 2024. The National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, begun the NIMCET registration on March 6, 2024. The last date to apply was April 20, 2024. The authority uploaded the NIMCET 2024 Information Brochure on the official website, and with other details, it consists of the NIMCET 2024 exam pattern and syllabus. Is the NIMCET 2024 Syllabus and Pattern same this year?

As per the NIMCEt 2024 Information Brochure, there is no change in the NIMCET syllabus this year. A slightly change is mentioned in the NIMCET 2024 exam pattern in this years' NIMCET 2024 Information Brochure. Check below the NIMCET Exam pattern and Syllabus in detail.

NIMCET 2024: Exam Pattern

The duration of the NIMCET exam was two hours as previous year. The NIMCET 2024 exam was conducted from 2 PM to 4 PM. This time the NIMCET Exam was divided into three parts. Last year, it was not there. The NIMCET 2024 test was conducted in three parts with 120 multiple choice questions as mentioned below:

Part I (70 minutes duration) consists of Mathematics (50 questions). It will be conducted from 2 PM to 3:10PM.

Part II (30 minutes duration) consists of Analytical ability and logical reasoning (40 questions). It will be conducted from 3:10 PM to 3:40 PM.

Part III ( 20 minutes duration) consists of Computer Awareness (20 questions) and English (10 questions). It will be conducted from 3:40 PM to 4 PM.

The three parts of the CBT were appear to the candidate one after the other. Time assigned for each part was fixed. Candidate should complete each part in allotted time only as movement to one section from other is not permitted. Multiple Choice Questions were written in English Language only and was not translated into any other language.

• Each correctly answered question will be awarded full marks and each wrongly answered question will lead to 25 negative mark.
• Candidates are advised not to attempt such questions if they are not sure of the correct answer. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if a question is unanswered.
• More than one answer indicated against a question will be negatively marked.
• The candidates have to mark the responses as per the instructions appearing in the screen of NIMCET-2024 online examination.

Mathematics:

Set Theory: Concept of sets- Union, Intersection, Cardinality, Elementary counting; permutations and combinations.

Probability and Statistics: Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent events, frequency distributions, measures of central tendencies and dispersions.

Coordinate Geometry: Rectangular Cartesian coordinates, distance formulae, equation of a line, and the intersection of lines, pair of straight lines, equations of a circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola.

Calculus: Limit of functions, continuous function, differentiation of function, tangents and normals, simple examples of maxima and minima. Integration of functions by parts, by substitution and by partial fraction, definite integrals, applications of definite integrals to areas.

Trigonometry: Simple identities, trigonometric equations properties of triangles, solution of triangles, heights and distances, general solutions of trigonometric equations.

Algebra: Fundamental operations in algebra, expansions, factorization, simultaneous linear/quadratic equations, indices, logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, determinants and matrices.

Vectors: The position vector, addition and subtraction of vectors, scalar and vector products and their applications to simple geometrical problems and mechanics.

Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning

The questions in this section will cover logical situations and questions based on the facts given in the passage.

Computer Awareness

Computer Basics: Organization of a computer, Central Processing Unit (CPU), the structure of instructions in CPU, input/output devices, computer memory, and backup devices.

Data Representation: Representation of characters, integers and fractions, binary and hexadecimal representations, binary arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, simple arithmetic and two’s complement arithmetic, floating-point representation of numbers, Boolean algebra, truth tables, Venn diagrams.

General English

Questions in this section will be designed to test the candidates’ general understanding of the English language. There will be questions on the below mentioned topics - Comprehension, vocabulary, Basic English Grammar (like usage of correct forms of verbs, prepositions and articles), word power, synonyms and antonyms, the meaning of words and phrases, technical writing.
