JEE Advanced 2022: IIT Dhanbad to offer free education to 5 top rankers

IIT Dhanbad will start a semiconductor course in MTech from the upcoming 2023-24 academic session 

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad will provide free education to five students out of the total 600 on the merit list of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. The cost of accommodation, education fees and food facilities of these five students will be borne by IIT Dhanbad.  

The initiative will be implemented from the 2022-23 academic year. The board of IIT Dhanbad has given its consent to this. The institute has a total enrollment capacity of 1,125 seats. Of these, 118 seats are reserved for girls under the super numeric quota. 

IIT Dhanbad to start MA in digital humanity, social science course 

IIT Dhanbad will start a semiconductor course in MTech from the upcoming 2023-24 academic session. Besides, MA in digital humanity and social science course will be started at the institute this year. The institute has also decided to open two new centres related to carbon capture, coal bed methane and hydrogen storage. The board has given its approval for this course. Preparation of the syllabus, the number of seats, and other key points will now be determined. 

R&D Fair 

Meanwhile, all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) of the country will come together for a mega Research & Development Fair for the first time. The fair will be held from October 14-15 at IIT Delhi. The inaugural session will be graced by Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan. 

A steering committee headed by Pawan Goenka, Chairman, Board of Governors (BoG), IIT Madras, and BVR Mohan Reddy, Chairman, BoG, IIT Hyderabad, and IIT Roorkee, will look after the event. Named IInvenTiv, the event is aimed at creating holistic awareness around the research and innovation work being done by the IITs and seeking collaborative avenues among state universities and institutes, industry, and the IITs for better development and reach of the innovations at the grass roots level.
