Justice Vipin Sanghi to take over as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

As per the government notification, Justice Vipin Sanghi, the senior-most Judge of the Delhi High Court has been appointed as Chief Justice Delhi High Court, with effect from March 13, 2022.

Justice Vipin Sanghi is all set to take over as the acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court from March 13, 2022. The Department of Justice of the Union Law Ministry notified Justice Sanghi's appointment on Friday, on the retirement of the current Chief Justice DN Patel.

The official notification says, "In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Shri Justice Vipin Sanghi, senior-most Judge of the Delhi High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, with effect from 13.03.2022 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Dhirubhai Naranbhai Patel, Chief Justice, Delhi High Court."

About Justice Vipin Sanghi 

He was born on October 27, 1961, in Nagpur and he is a third-generation lawyer. He graduated in B.Sc Mathematics (Hons) from Delhi University in the year 1983 and then joined LLB at the Law Faculty, Campus Law Centre, University of Delhi.

He completed his LLB in 1986 and enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi as an advocate the same year.

In December 2005, he was designated Senior Advocate by the Delhi High Court.

Justice Sanghi was appointed an additional judge of the High Court of Delhi with effect from May 29, 2006, and confirmed as a permanent judge on February 11, 2008.
