Following the Karnataka HC judgment to determine the mode of examination for the second and fourth semesters of the 3-year LLB course, KSLU has decided to stick to its earlier decision of holding the offline examination.

KSLU decides offline examination for LLB course

Karnataka High court had given 10 days' time to Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) to decide the mode of examination for the second and fourth semesters of the 3-year LLB course, and the university has said it will stick with the earlier decision of taking the examination in an offline mode.

The university announced the examination dates on February 24. The examination will commence from March 7 and the timetable was announced with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor, as reported by The Hindu.

The registrar has also said that the mandatory notice period of 60 days had already been complied with as the examinations were notified on September 17, 2021.

The students were protesting since December 2021 against the university's decision to conduct the offline examination. National Students Union of India (NSUI), Karnataka was also supporting the protesting students but the university was firm on its decision to conduct the offline examination.

A division bench of Justices SG Pandit and Anant Ramanath Hegde had said, "The University is directed to determine the mode of examination, ie. online, offline, open book exams, test evaluation, as suggested by Bar Council of India, in its press release, dated 10/06/2021 and other relevant documents, within 10 days from the date of web-hoisting of the order. Consequent to taking decision as directed above the respondent university to take steps forthwith to complete the procedure of examination/evaluation of second and fourth semester, for three years LLB course. The university shall ensure that the time gap prescribed by the rules if any for conducting of examination/evaluation," as reported by Live Law.
