AIBE Department to remain closed until May 17 due to countrywide lockdown extension

The Department of All India Bar Examination (AIBE) will continue its closure due to COVID-19 lockdown extension until May 17. Following the lockdown 3.0 announced by the Central Govt.,  AIBE issued a notification on May 3 for the closure of its department as under: 

“This is to inform all the candidates that the department for All India Bar Examination will be closed till 17th May 2020 due to extension of the nationwide lockdown as a preventive measure for COVID-19. The helpline numbers 011-49225022/23 will be closed. In case of any emergency, the candidates are requested to call on 9804580458 for any queries.”  

The department will remain closed until and unless the situation in the country is under control. Currently, the only shield is lockdown that proved effective against the spread of Coronavirus pandemic therefore, the government is taking all the measures to avoid public gatherings. 

According to AIBE 14 qualified candidates, the department or BCI has not issued the 'Certificate of Practice' or related information as yet. Therefore, they are awaiting the COP eagerly that will allow them to continue practising as lawyers with the courts.

On the other hand, the aspirants who want to appear for AIBE 2020 are awaiting notification regarding the exam date for the new session. Nonetheless, any AIBE exam related information will be out only after the department continues its normal activities after lockdown is lifted.
