Prof Srividhya Ragavan has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of the newly launched India International University of Legal Education & Research (IIULER) at Goa.
Prof Srividhya Ragavan has been designated as Vice-Chancellor of the newly established India International University of Legal Education & Research (IIULER) at Goa. She is the Former Professor of Law and Director of India Programs at Texas A&M University School of Law.
She will serve a five-year term as VC and will be eligible for re-appointment for subsequent terms until she attains the age of 70 years.
During the inauguration of the first academic session of IIULER, Goa, Prof Ragavan said in her speech, "What sets most successful lawyers apart is your ability to put in just that little bit of extra work that’ll characterize you, characterize who we become... hard work is always the basis for any new institution and this institution will have the same as its pillar...the ability and the courage to disagree but the humility to do it in an agreeable manner is what will set us apart and those are the kind of values that good legal institutions and certainly IIULER will impart to the students...as far as the vision of the University is concerned, I look at IIULER as legal education 2.0 in India… IIULER will re-imagine legal education into a global phenomenon. We will take Indian Jurisprudence abroad," as reported by Bar and Bench.
About Prof Srividhya Ragavan
She graduated from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, and completed her LL.M. from King’s College, University of London. She went on to earn her SJD from the George Washington University School of Law.
Prof Srividhya Ragavan has previously taught at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and has also been a Visiting Professor at NLSIU, National Academy for Legal Studies & Research (NALSAR), Hyderabad, National Law University, Delhi and the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore.
