The overall fees payable to National Law University (NLU) Delhi has been changed to INR 3,20,000 from INR 1,86,000.
National Law University (NLU) Delhi has doubled the fee structure for new students. The revised fee structure of INR 3,20,000 is nearly double the previous fee. The total yearly fee for previous batches was INR 1,63,500, excluding the mess fees, Bar and Bench reported.
Another significant difference between the old and new fee structure is that what was once a categorical bifurcation of internet fees and reading material charges, is now clubbed into one head as ‘academic services fee’. Vice-Chancellor in-charge Prof Harpreet Kaur said, “The academic services and facilities fee in the new fee structure includes internet and reading material charges.”
First real change in fees in a decade: NLU Delhi VC
He said, “The fee structure at NLU Delhi has remained unchanged since the 2013-14 academic year and this is the first real change in fees in a decade. We would like to emphasise here that an additional hostel facilities fee of INR 20,000 per annum was added from 2018 onwards to cover the operational costs of the newly installed centralised air-conditioning in the halls of residence.”
He went on to add, “The new tuition fee for prospective students has increased from INR 85,000 per annum to INR 1,35,000 per annum. The overall fees payable to the university has been changed to INR 3,20,000 from INR 1,86,000. It is our view that this increase is justified in light of increased costs and expenses over the last decade wherein our fee structure has remained unchanged.”
The administration said that the revised fee structure was notified at the time of call for applications to appear in the All-India Law Entrance Test (AILET) 2023.
