The 5th National Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition at RGNUL was held between March 31, 2023, to April 2, 2023. The competition was held in association with Indus Law, Principal Knowledge Partner, Sama ODR Platform, Advisory Partner, Markanda Advocates, Expert Partner, Mediator Academy, Education Partner, Pepperdine School of Law, and Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution, Indian Dispute Resolution Centre (IDRC) and Centre for Mediation & amp; Conciliation as Knowledge Partners, Latest Laws as Media Partner.

RGNUL organises 5th National Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition

The Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (CADR) and Dr PC Markanda Chair of ADR at the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) organised the 5th National Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition between March 31, 2023, to April 2, 2023.

The event included the preliminary rounds, quarter-final rounds, semi-final rounds and the final round. The competition saw the participation of 32 teams representing the top universities from all over the nation. The competition was judged by about 40 assessors comprising professional experts and academicians. The propositions for the competition covered various nuances of sports and entertainment law. The problem for the final round was centred on a dispute between an established tennis player and the Board of Tennis Control India over the constitutionality of the code of conduct rules.

During the valedictory ceremony, Prof (Dr) Anand Pawar, VC, RGNUL, Dr Gurmanpreet Kaur and Dr Wazida Rahman, Faculty co-ordinators of the Mediation Competition along with the assessors distributed the prizes to the winners worth INR 75000 and trophies, sponsored by Markanda Advocates, Chandigarh.

Winners of RGNUL National Sports and Entertainment Law Mediation Competition

Hidayatullah National Law University Raipur won the best negotiating pair. The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences Kolkata was declared as runner-up in the negotiation. The Best Mediator team was awarded to National Law School India University Bangalore. Army Institute of Law, Mohali was declared as the runner-up mediator. The prize for best mediation plan was awarded to Maharashtra National Law University Nagpur.
