RGNUL student wins first prize in Third Shamnad Basheer Essay Competition 2022

RGNUL Student Pravertna Sulakshya won the 1st Prize in The Third Shamnad Basheer Essay Competition 2022.

Pravertna Sulakshya BA LLB (Hons) 3rd year student of the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab has won the first prize for an essay titled "An IPR-Kajal for Dupes' Evil Eye? Exploring the "Space" for Makeup Dupes in the Indian IP Framework" in The Third Shamnad Basheer Essay Competition 2022.

The annual essay competition was earlier announced on 14 May 2022, on the occasion of Shamnad‘s 46th birth anniversary.

The winning essay this year is a fascinating walk through the challenges and opportunities presented by ‘dupes’, as distinguished from counterfeits and knockoffs, in the fashion industry. The author walks the reader through the standard IP tools of patents, copyrights and trademarks, noting the gaps in them in the Indian context, vis-a-vis dupes. Recognising the diverse benefits brought on by the thriving of the dupes industry, the author suggested that these be left to the negative spaces IP scholarship, as reported by Live Law.

RGNUL presents two credit certificate courses on International Humanitarian Law

The Centre For Advanced Studies In International Humanitarian Law at RGNUL has presented two credit certificate courses on International Humanitarian Law from January to May 2023 for all interested participants including students, faculty members, professionals, and others. The course fee would be INR 2000 for all participants and for students, the fee is INR 750.

The last date to register and do the payment is December 20, 2022. The course will start on January 21, 2023.
