LJ Pharmacy College students have written to the Pharmacy Council of India and Gujarat State Pharmacy Council for intervention on the registration issue.
LJ Pharmacy College students have been protesting for getting registration as pharmacists. Pharmacy Council of India had denied the licence to the institute in 2016 after it admitted 180 students against the maximum allotted capacity of 100 students.
As the institute is not registered with the council, the students who have graduated from this college are not getting the licence to run a pharmacy store.
The protesting students have written to two councils including the Pharmacy Council of India and Gujarat State Pharmacy Council for intervention and speedy resolution on the matter. The students are demanding through the letter that the eligible candidates must immediately get registered as pharmacists.
Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is leading the protest in this regard. One of its members told TOI, "Students have been protesting from the last few days but there is no response from the college authority. We have now approached the councils for their intervention."
ABVP member has also said, "After all these years, the institute has still not been able to re-register with the council. In the absence of registration, candidates who graduated from here are unable to get a licence to run a pharmacy store."
ABVP has also added that if a solution is not found in a few days, it will start a protest.
