Film & Television Institute of India (FIII), Pune and the University of Ladakh have signed MoU to launch film and television-related courses in the union territory.

With the objective to introduce courses related to various aspects of film and television productions and provide a platform for learning, the Film & Television Institute of India (FIII), Pune and the University of Ladakh have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to launch film and television related courses in the union territory.

The MoU was signed by Sayyid Rabeehashmi, FTII Registrar and Prof Deskyong Namgyal, Dean, Ladakh University in the presence of Prof. S. K. Mehta, Vice Chancellor, Ladakh University.

FTII Pune offers Fundamentals of Film Direction

The Fundamentals of Film Direction course will be conducted from August 17 to August 21, 2022. The deadline to apply for the online course is August 8, 2022, and selection will be based on a first come first served basis. The course fee for Indians is INR 3,900 and for others, it is INR 11,700. The mode of payment is online through SBI Collect (along with the application form). The educational qualifications required are HSC (12th pass) and in exceptional cases, a 10th pass may be considered.

This course is for participants with little or no filmmaking experience. This is an introductory course and it is not meant to be a substitute for longer-term programs. It aims at developing a basic understanding of the art and craft of film direction and gaining an insight into the aesthetical and philosophical concerns of film direction. The course will help to understand how a director’s vision comes to life from idea to screen, what are the tools available to help implement the director’s vision in the film, how a director makes informed creative decisions, and how a director communicates with cast, crew and, ultimately, the audience. The course will be conducted through a series of online classes incorporating discussions, screenings and analysis of film excerpts etc.
