Yes, academic record, specially of class 12 and graduation, are an important criteria for IIM admission. Higher the marks, higher the chances of selection to IIM.

PI shortlisting is a selection process, in which the IIMs select candidates on the basis of their CAT score and academic record for personal interview round. After the CAT result is announced, the IIMs release the PI shortlisting form at their website, which the candidate can fill if he/she meets the eligibility cut off.  

There is no official announcement of CAT 2023 answer key release date, but going by the trends of previous years, it is expected that it will be released today.

There is no option of revaluation or rechecking of the test in CAT. The purpose of candidate response sheet and answer key challenge is to clear the doubts in the minds of candidates.

The final CAT 2023 answer key cannot be challenged as it will be prepared by taking into consideration all the objections raised on preliminary CAT 2023 answer key.

To calculate the CAT percentile, the following formula is applied:

• P = (R/N) × 100
• where,
• P= Percentile score

Suppose, 1,0000 people take CAT and a candidate bags the top rank, which means 9999 candidates scored less than him/her. The CAT percentile will be 9999/10000*100= 99.9.

IIM cut offs for MBA/PGP admission for 2024 batch will remain at 99-100 percentile for the top campuses. For others, the cut offs can range between 95-98 percentile.

To calculate their CAT score, candidates will need to follow the marking scheme of the exam which is:

• +3 for correct answer
• -1 for incorrect answer
• 0 for unanswered question

Candidates can match their responses with the official answers and calculate the raw score. There is no negative marking for TITA questions, so if a candidate has selected incorrect option in a TITA question, they will get 0.

For admission, institutes consider CAT percentile. They consider sectional as well as overall percentiles of the candidate for admission which is why it is important to score well in all the sections of CAT.

CAT score is the total marks a candidate gets in the exam, basis his/her correct and incorrect attempts. The CAT percentile indicates the candidate’s performance in comparison to rest of the test takers. For example, if a candidate gets 99 percentile, it means his performance/score is higher than 99 % of all test takers.

The final CAT 2023 answer key will be release 2 days before the result announcement. It will be released only if any of the objections raised by any candidate is found to be valid and the preliminary answer key has to be revised. 

The official answer key of the CAT exam is prepared by the team of subject matter experts. The team comprises experts who prepare the test forms. The same team evaluates the questions and answers after the exam has been conducted.
