The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) recently welcomed the school students for "Youth Udyami," an event designed to empower and inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs. Organized by students from the Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) and the Post Graduate Programme for Enterprise Management (PGPEM), the event aimed to cultivate entrepreneurial talent among aspiring young minds.

Overwhelming Participation and Insights from Experts

The event saw a remarkable turnout, with over 300 registrations. From this pool, 50 students from various Bangalore schools were selected to present their entrepreneurial ideas. Professor Amar Sapra, Chairperson of the EPGP, motivated the students, saying, “Success in entrepreneurship requires not just a great idea, but also a lot of luck. Many succeed on their first try, but others may fail several times before achieving success. Persistence and resilience are essential qualities for a successful entrepreneur.”

A notable feature of "Youth Udyami" was the mentorship provided by IIMB students, who helped the young participants refine their business acumen and prepare their pitches.

Student Perspectives and Innovative Ideas

Participant Omna Kulkarni praised the initiative, stating, “Our school is fostering entrepreneurial skills through events like Shark Tank and Youth Ideathon. This opportunity at IIMB has provided us with an excellent platform to further develop our skills and learn from industry experts.”

Students presented diverse and innovative ideas, including a community-driven green cycle initiative that creates artistic jewelry from recycled household waste. Other projects featured included an online platform for puja planning, a waste utilization app linking restaurants and compost makers, visual aids for the visually impaired, and a digital planner app for neurodivergent individuals.

Abhinav, another participant, shared, “The experience at IIMB has been enriching. The mentorship has helped us refine our pitches and provided guidance for creating a sustainable business model.” A parent accompanying the students also remarked on the exceptional facilities and support, highlighting the inspiring dedication to nurturing young talent.

Looking Ahead: The Grand Finale

The grand finale of "Youth Udyami" is set for "Prayaas Day," tentatively scheduled for February 2025. During this event, the top 10 applications will be evaluated by IIMB professors and industry leaders, who will assess the business models and offer feedback. As the day wrapped up, the enthusiasm and optimism among participants were palpable. "Youth Udyami" reflects IIMB’s dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. With continued support from the IIMB community and industry mentors, these young entrepreneurs are well-positioned to make a significant impact on India's economic future.
