The average salaries of the top 10% and quartile of the outgoing batch were recorded at an all-time high of Rs 54.5 lakh and Rs 41.8 lakh per annum respectively.
The Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM Calcutta), wrapped up its placement process for the year 2020. The placement drive saw a growth of 10% in the average salary package as compared to the placement data of the year 2019. The prestigious institute repeated a history of excellent placement, for its MBA 2020 batch.
This year’s placement drive of the Kolkata-based IIM witnessed the average salary of Rs 28 lakh with the median salary of Rs 25.5 lakh. According to the data shared by the institute, 439 students received 492 offers from almost 136 firms. The premier B-school shared that the average annual package of the entire batch was Rs 28 lakh but the average salaries of the top 10% and quartile of the outgoing batch were recorded at an all-time high of Rs 54.5 lakh and Rs 41.8 lakh per annum respectively.
Talking about the splendid outcome of the placement drive, the IIM-C told that the students get the options of ‘Dream’ and ‘Wait and Hold’ from the institute to make them realise their full potential at a top institute. Recruiters can make the selection from a larger pool and pick the most suitable candidate as per the job role.
According to the data shared by the institute, the placement drive received maximum offers i.e. 31% of the total offers from the consulting firms. Companies like McKinsey & Co, Bain & Co, Kearney, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the Boston Consulting Group, and Accenture were the top recruiters among others.
83 offers (17% of the total offers) came from finance and private equity–venture capital firms. Among these Barclays, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and Gaja Capital made the best offers.
While sharing the placement data, IIM Calcutta said that out of the total offers 30% offers came for General management, and sales and marketing roles. Recruiters like Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Administrative Service (TAS), Vedanta, Aditya Birla Group, Reliance Industries, TrueNorth, Hindustan Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, Mondelez, and test prep firm FIITJEE made the major offers for sales, marketing, and general management roles.
