Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore has commenced the fourth batch of the Customized Management Development Programme (MDP) for senior officials under its Centre of Excellence ANVESHAN. The four-day programme aimed at enhancing the capacity of senior officials from various municipalities across the nation.
Topics covering effective urban development management
The fourth batch of the Customized MDP comprises senior officials from Sikkim, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, UP, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tripura and Bihar. The programme, spanning four days, will cover a comprehensive range of topics crucial for effective urban development management.
Aims to drive sustainable & inclusive urban development
Through collaborative learning and knowledge exchange, the programme aims to empower senior municipal officials to drive sustainable and inclusive urban development initiatives nationwide.
Participants can expect to engage with esteemed faculty and industry experts, gaining insights and strategies to tackle the dynamic and complex challenges of urban governance and development. They will delve into strategies for Leadership Communication, gaining insights into effective communication practices in leadership roles. Project Management sessions will equip them with essential skills for successful project implementation. Participants will explore topics such as Biogas and Waste to Energy, discovering sustainable energy sources and management practices. They will also engage in discussions on Innovation, fostering a culture of creativity and problem-solving. Other areas of focus will include emerging priorities for urban implementation, resource planning, waste management, and legacy dumpsite remediation. Additionally, participants will learn about improving public toilets, financial management, and behavioral change strategies.
The programme was inaugurated by Director, Professor Himanshu Rai. Professor Subin Sudhir, Chair- Executive Education and Professor Shruti Tewari, Programme Coordinator was also present on this occasion.
In his inaugural address, Professor Rai emphasized the importance of effective leadership and collaboration in driving transformative change in urban governance. He highlighted the role of initiatives like Swachh Bharat in shaping India's landscape and praised the dedication of officials towards a cleaner India. Professor Rai underscored the concept of 'Janbhagidari' (collective participation) and 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' (the world is one family), stressing the significance of collaboration and inclusivity in nation-building efforts. "Successful leaders must possess a keen receptivity to fresh perspectives.
