IIM Shillong 15th Convocation Ceremony: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong has successfully conducted its 15th convocation ceremony. The B-school conferred degrees to 349 students with PhD and MBA degrees. Meanwhile, the institute also felicitated MBA students Rohan Basak with the ‘Director’s Gold Medal for Best All-Rounder’ and Kolapalli Bhargav with the ‘Institute Silver Medal’ for securing the second-highest CGPA. ‘Institute Medal’ for positive contribution to campus life was won by Akash Tiwari.

IIM Shillong gave out PhD degrees to five doctoral scholars while 281 students of Postgraduate Programme (PGP) in Management 2022-24 batch, 47 of PGP for Experienced Professionals (PGPEX) 2023-24 batch and 16 of PGP for Working Executive (PGPWE) 2022-24 batch bagged MBA degrees.
Savi Mahajan, Dhavalkumar and Mukesh Kumar were awarded the Chairman’s Gold Medal for securing the highest CGPA in PGP, PGPEX and PGPWE programmes, respectively.
While delivering the welcome address, IIM Shillong Board of governors chairman Shishir Kumar Bajoria emphasised on the importance of skill development in shaping the country’s future. "Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached. Take social responsibility, embrace change, and become the torchbearers of India's economy,” he said.
Narayanan Kumar, chairman, group corporate board, Sanmar Group was the chief guest on the occasion. While delivering the convocation address, Kumar said that India has been witnessing growth due to initiatives such as Digital India at a time when many countries are grappling with recession and other challenges. “I firmly believe that India is the country of the decade, and I urge the students of IIM Shillong to leverage their education to contribute towards the country's progress and make a positive impact on the society. New India offers tremendous opportunities for young Indians to pursue dreams and achieve goals,’ he added.
IIM Shillong introduces new convocation attire to promote northeast culture
IIM Shillong in partnership with the Centre of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) has introduced new convocation attire inspired by the traditional Khasi tribal wrap – the Muka. The initiative is to promote the culture of northeast India. The attire has been made of eri silk by Tamulpur Anchalik Gramdaan Sangh, the oldest khadi institution in the Northeast.
