The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Visakhapatnam inaugurated its first batch of the executive PhD (Exec-PhD) programme at the Gambhiram campus on Sunday. This programme aims to equip professionals with advanced research skills to tackle complex challenges in their respective fields.

Profile and Selection of Executive PhD Batch 2024
Dean of Administration, Kaveri Krishnan, highlighted the enthusiastic response among working professionals to the launch of the course. Following a rigorous screening process, 16 candidates were selected for the inaugural batch of the executive PhD programme, showcasing a diverse participant profile.
Guidance and Advice
Dean of Research and Chairperson of the Executive PhD, Professor Amit Shankar, advised the new batch to maintain a balance across work, family, and their PhD studies. Janat Shah, a member of the Board of Governors at IIM-V, emphasized the importance of upskilling in research for professionals.
Director of IIM Visakhapatnam, M Chandrashekhar, encouraged participants to strive for their full potential and foster collaboration among themselves and with faculty members.
Immersion Module and Event Highlights
During the event, Admissions Chair Professor Prashant Premkumar announced that participants will undergo an eight-day immersion module, continuing on campus until July 14. The event was attended by new executive PhD participants, regular PhD participants, faculty, and staff of IIM Visakhapatnam.
This initiative underscores IIM Visakhapatnam's commitment to advancing research capabilities among working professionals through a structured and supportive academic environment.
