KEA faces an uproar by students, parents and teachers over the issue of mismanagement of the KCET exam. On the other hand, PGCET notification is long awaited, DCET registration window is nearing to close, and the online registration link is yet not published.

KEA Exam Chaos

KCET, Karnataka PGCET, and DCET Candidates Furious Over Mismanagement by KEA

State level exams in Karnataka state seems to be in disarray. Recently, the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) released the answer key for KCET 2024. However, 50 questions were dropped from the evaluation as they were found to be outside the prescribed syllabus. These questions came from chapters that were removed in the 2023-24 rationalised syllabus. This omission has angered students and parents, with over 20% of the exam being disregarded.

Meanwhile, the DCET 2024 notification was issued on April 4th, announcing registration to begin on April 20th and conclude on May 5th. Despite May already starting, the registration link for DCET is still unavailable on the official KEA website.

Besides KCET and DCET, the Karnataka PGCET 2023 examination process also had difficulties, which saw problems with admit card issuance, multiple releases of provisional answer keys, and delayed results. This string of mismanagement has sparked social media campaigns urging for reform, with hashtags like #removeramya and #saveKEA trending.

Following protests from UGCET test-takers regarding out-of-syllabus questions, the state government intervened. They directed KEA to eliminate these questions from KCET 2024 evaluation and confirmed there would be no re-exam.

KEA has attributed the issue to the PU department, stating they set the exam based on the PU syllabus. However, the PU department denies responsibility, claiming the deleted chapters were clearly outlined in the 2023-24 syllabus. This has led to confusion about who is at fault, with students questioning the competence of those who set the question papers

Karnataka PGCET 2024 Notification Awaited

Earlier this year, KEA announced a single window registration process for Karnataka PGCET, DCET, and KCET. All three exams were planned to be conducted online in CBT mode. However, KCET application forms were released in January for an offline exam, while the DCET notification released in April mentions an online exam. The status of the Karnataka PGCET 2024 notification remains unclear. Karnataka PGCET 2024 notification is awaited, with PG aspirants concerned about their fate of higher education in Karnataka.
