Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad, has been ranked at 32nd position as per the NIRF ranking 2024 survey. The Ministry of Education, Government of India conducts the NIRF ranking survey every year to evaluate top colleges in India. MICA has been obtaining a spot among top MBA colleges in India as per NIRF ranking since 2022. In 2022, MICA obtained a spot at 42nd position in the Management category. In the following session, NIRF 2023 survey provided MICA with a 37th position across the category.

MICA, renowned for its specialisation in marketing and communication, has seen a decline/upward trend in its overall standing among management institutions in the country.

MICAT Admission Process 2024

Every year, MICA conducts the admission process for its flagship PGDM course attracting several candidates from across the country. Candidates aspiring for MICA admissions must appear for any of the following national level entrance exam:

  • CAT
  • XAT
  • GMAT

Candidates with a valid score in CAT/XAT/GMAT can take the MICAT exam comprising three sections, namely Psychometric Test, Descriptive Test, and an Aptitude Test. Section A, i.e. the Psychometric Test is a qualifier. While, Section B and C have a combined weightage of 30 per cent in the selection process. Besides MICAT scores, scores of CAT/XAT/GMAT, is considered along with the performance of each candidate in GE and PI.

Q: ย  Is it compulsory to appear for CAT/XAT/GMAT to participate in the MICAT admission process?

A:

MICAT selection criteria requires applicants to have a valid score in CAT/XAT/GMAT. Score in the national level exam has a weightage of 20 per cent while preparation of merit list. Additionally, the MBA exam score helps shortlisting candidate for the GE-PI. Candidates have to meet the CAT/XAT/GMAT cutoff scores to be assessed for their performance in Section-B. Candidates whpo do not meet the cutoff score are not evaluated for Section B as well as Section C. Therefore, appearing for the national level MBA entrance exam is mandatory to participate in the MICA PGDM admission process. 

Q: ย  Are MICAT scores and MICAT final merit list released separately?

A:

Since the MICAT exam is conducted in two phases, MICAT scores for both exam phases are released separately. Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, compiles the MICAT results as menntioned below:

  • MICAT scores: This refers to the score of the candidate in the MICAT exam. MICAT scores are released depicting the performance of the candidate in MICAT exam.
  • MICAT shortlists: This refers to list of candidates who are selected for the GE-PI rounds under the selection process. MICAT shortlists are prepared after providing a weightage of 50 per cent each to MICAT scores and scores of the candidates in CAT/XAT/GMAT.
  • MICAT final merit list: This refers to the list of candidates selected for PGDM/PGDM-C admissions. Candidates get their names in the MICAT merit list based on the selection criteria which invbolves a specified weightage for MICAT scores, CAT/XAT/GMAT scores, and GE-PI scores.

All three types of performance indicators mentioned above, including the MICAT scores, MICAT schortlists and MICAT final merit list are released separately on the official website.
