36 PGIMER's nursing students barred from outing for skipping Mann ki Baat
As many as 36 boarding students of the National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) at PGIMER have been barred from an outing for a week for failing to attend Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.
As per the PGI Director’s order, it was mandatory for all first and third-year students to attend the broadcast of the 100th edition of the PM’s monthly radio programme on April 30, 2023, at 10:30 am. However, 28 students from the third year and eight from the first year failed to attend the programme and taking serious note of their absence, the warden stopped these students from going on their scheduled outing for a week, as per the orders issued on May 3.
The warden said that during the preceding night and morning rounds, she repeatedly asked the students to attend the programme, but they didn’t pay heed, as reported by Hindustan Times.
As per Tribune India, Chandigarh Youth Congress president Manoj Lubana has termed it a “dictatorial” move and said unnecessary action had been taken against those who chose not to listen to ‘Mann Ki Baat’, which had been “imposed by the government on people”.
“The government is working against education and interests of students. The same is reflected in case of these PGI students. Their outing has been stopped with the intention to punish. This action has been taken under pressure of the UT Administration,” alleged Lubana.
