50% seats in private medical colleges to be charged at par with GMCs: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today that half the seats in private medical colleges will be charged at par with government medical colleges.
While interacting with Jan Aushadhi Kendra owners and beneficiaries of the Jan Aushadhi scheme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 50% of the seats in private medical colleges will be charged at par with the government medical colleges which will benefit the poor and middle-class medical aspirants.
PM Narendra Modi tweet says, "A few days back, the government has taken another big decision, which will benefit the poor and middle-class children. We have decided that half the seats in private medical colleges will be charged at par with government medical colleges."
"Our government has also controlled the price of more than 800 medicines required for the treatment of diseases like cancer, tuberculosis, diabetes, heart disease. The government has also ensured that the cost of stunting and knee implants remains under control. Today, more than eight and a half thousand Jan Aushadhi Kendras have opened in the country. These centers are now becoming solution centers for common man, not just government stores," said the Prime Minister.
Naveen's death in Ukraine also highlighted need for affordable medical education
The father of Naveen Shekharappa had urged the Prime Minister to ensure that even in private colleges quality higher education is given at an affordable cost.
Also, after the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the need for more affordable medical colleges in India is highlighted big time and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and others have expressed their concern over the issue.
