Ahmedabad: MBBS student dies allegedly by suicide
In yet another case of suicide by a medical student, Paritosh Modi, an MBBS student in Ahmedabad has jumped to death in Sabarmati, read here to know the details of the tragic incident.
Now, it is almost every day, one or another medical students are committing suicide reportedly due to huge academic and work pressure. In Ahmedabad, a 21-year-old MBBS student died allegedly by committing suicide. Paritosh Modi, a second-year student of NHL Medical College and a native of Palannpur, took the extreme step, confirmed the police.
"Paritosh was under severe stress due to his studies. He was trying to deal with it and had even asked his mother to live with him. He left the hostel in November and had since been living with her in a rented flat at Pushkar Apartments, Maninagar," said the police, as reported by TOI.
The MBBS exams are going on at the university and he was to take the practical exams.
"He sat on the bridge for a while and spoke to someone on the phone. Then he climbed on the bridge and jumped into the river at 7:57 pm," said the Sabarmati Riverfront (West) police officer.

His father, Piyush Modi, is a doctor at the primary health centre (PHC) in Kotarwada village of Banaskantha. His twin brother, Ashutosh Modi is also a second-year MBBS student at a medical college in Vadodara.
The body was handed over to the family. His grandfather reportedly worked for a minister in Gujarat and hence after the incident many senior government officials rushed to the bridge.
