AIIMS Delhi Director Randeep Guleria's tenure likely be extended

While the search is going on for the new director at AIIMS Delhi, it is expected that the tenure of the current director Randeep Guleria be extended by another three months.

As per reports, the current AIIMS-Delhi Director Randeep Guleria's tenure is likely to get another extension of three months.

His tenure was already once extended in March 23 and now once again it is expected to be extended by another three months after the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by the prime minister on June 20 asked for a wider panel of names for the post of director of AIIMS Delhi, as reported by Business Standard..

The Search is on for the new AIIMS director

In March 2022, three doctors names were shortlisted by a search-cum-selection committee and subsequently approved by the Institute Body, the top decision-making body of the AIIMS. These names were sent to the ACC for final approval.

The three AIIMS doctors whose names were recommended earlier were Nikhil Tandon, head of the department of endocrinology; Rajesh Malhotra, chief of AIIMS Trauma Centre and the head of the department of orthopaedics; and Pramod Garg, professor in the gastroenterology department.

Now, the ACC has asked for more names for the post. "The Competent Authority in the ACC has directed to return the instant proposal with the request to send a wider panel of names for consideration of the ACC," said the official source.

As per reports, Neena Khanna, the Dean (Academic) AIIMS is also set to retire on June 30 and there is no one finalised yet to join the post.
