Andhra Pradesh: 5 medical Colleges to be Unveiled in August
The five medical institutes will come up in Vizianagaram, Eluru, Nandyala, Machilipatnam, and Rajamahendravaram.
Andhra Pradesh Minister for Health and family welfare Vidadala Rajini said that as many as five medical colleges will be unveiled in August this year in Vizianagaram, Eluru, Nandyala, Machilipatnam, and Rajamahendravaram. The classes will commence in September. Each college will have 150 seats.
As per the report of Indian Express, she reviewed the progress of works at the new colleges with the district Collectors and principals. She said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has prioritised the medical and health sector in the State.
“The addition of these colleges will raise the seat count from 2,185 to 2,935. The establishment of these medical colleges in Vizianagaram, Eluru, Nandyala, Machilipatnam, and Rajamahendravaram is an extraordinary accomplishment, as obtaining permission for five colleges within a span of just five years is a rare achievement,” she said, as reported by Financial Express.
“These new colleges and additional seats are a great advantage for students in Andhra Pradesh, as it eliminates the need for them to relocate to other states for their medical education,” she added. Besides these five, she said the remaining 12 colleges would also start functioning in the next two to three years.
“In just five years’ time, obtaining permission for five medical colleges is a rare feat. This is a record in the history of the state," said Rajini in a press note.
"I feel proud to inform you that we are going to start the admissions for the five new Government Medical Colleges- Eluru, Vizianagaram, Machilipatnam, Nandyal and Rajahmundry for the academic year 2023 – 2024," she tweeted.
"The National Medical Commission has already granted permission to commence admissions in these five colleges, and each college will admit 150 students. This feat once again reiterates Our Hon'ble CM Sir's commitment towards upgrading the Health Infrastructure in the state," added Vidadala Rajini.
