One government Ayurvedic and one government Unani medical colleges have been disaffiliated from Lucknow University, now they will be affiliated with Ayush University, Gorakhpur.

Lucknow University (LU) has disaffiliated Government Ayurvedic College and Hospital and the Government Unani College in Lucknow. These two colleges will now be affiliated with Ayush University, Gorakhpur.

LU registrar Sanjay Medhavi, said, "UP government has said that all Ayurveda, Unani and Homeopathy colleges in the state will now be affiliated with Ayush University. In line with the directive, we approved the proposal of affiliation shift in the meeting," as reported by Free Press Journal.

The decision to disaffiliate these colleges was taken in the LU executive council meeting on Wednesday.

"LU has informed colleges that now all new students admitted will get a degree from Ayush University while the students enrolled at present will be given an LU degree. The responsibility to conduct the examination will now be of Ayush University," he added.

LU will now be imparting medical education in pharmacy, yoga and alternative medicine.

LU: LLB admission started at DAV College

The admissions for the LLB course in the institute started on Thursday. Against 198 seats, 38 students got admitted after counselling on the first day. 

Principal Prof. Sudhanshu Sinha said that the candidates selected in the first merit will have a chance till November 5. After that, the college will issue the second merit on the vacant seats, and those will get a chance. He informed that the merit of EWS quota candidates has also been issued for admission. There will be admissions on 18 seats in this quota, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar.
