DME Assam issues notice regarding EWS category for MBBS, BDS admissions 2021

Assam Directorate of Medical Education's (DME) notice said those who did not apply for the EWS category while applying for NEET-UG 2021 can now apply for this category at the official website www.dme.assam.gov.in.

Recently, the Assam Directorate of Medical Education released a notification for admission into first-year MBBS(Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery)/BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) courses in government medical and dental colleges of Assam for session 2021. 

As per the notification, general category candidates whose names appeared in Assam state NEET 2021 merit list who are otherwise eligible as per MBBS/BDS Courses in the Government Medical and Dental Colleges of Assam for the session 2021 and who did not apply for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category while applying for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET UG) 2021, can now apply for EWS category to the office of the undersigned and are directed to apply in the prescribed format available in the official website of the Directorate www.dme.assam.gov.in for inclusion to this category.

The notification added, "The format is to be downloaded from the website and scanned copy of the filled in form sent to the email id amcc.dme@gmail.com at the earliest. The claim shall be accepted till the date of first counselling as per rules, the date of which shall be declared in due course of time."

The notification also said that the candidates who have already applied for the EWS category in NEET-UG 2021, and whose name appeared in the Assam state Merit list 2021 under the EWS category, need not apply again for the EWS category in MBBS/BDS admission in Assam.
