Doctors call off strike demanding NEET PG 2021 Counseling dates; Delhi Police withdraws FIR

Delhi Police has started the process of withdrawal of FIR in connection with the ITO protest.

Resident Doctors have called off their strike and have decided to return to work from 12 noon today. The doctors have been agitating demanding the announcement of NEET PG Counseling dates

The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has decided to call off their strike after a meeting with Delhi Police today. Doctors went on strike after some of them were taken into custody on Monday while organizing a protest march towards the Supreme Court of India.

As per a statement issued by FORDA: “A virtual meeting of FORDA with all RDA Representatives was convened late in the evening (December 30) whereby all the proceedings were conveyed & all concerning points were discussed in details. It was unanimously decided to call off the agitation on December 31, 2021, 12:00 P.M.”

The decision has been taken after a meeting of FODRA office bearers with the Joint CP of Delhi Police last night. Delhi Police has started the process of withdrawal of FIR in connection with the ITO protest.
Following the meeting, the association has decided to call off their strike against the delay in NEET 2021 counselling.

The resident doctors have also stated that because of their strike patients were suffering and many critical surgeries had to be deferred and thus they had to call off the strike.

The association sharing details of its meeting with the Health Minister has stated that after the hearing of NEET PG in the Supreme Court of India On January 06, Ministry will publish the NEET-PG 2021 Counselling schedule.

It has also stated that no punitive or disciplinary notion sill be taken by the authorities against any Resident Doctor who took part in the agitation.

The association has stated that Delhi Police has assured that the complaint against Resident Doctors will be taken care of as per the legal procedures.

Yesterday, the Association has announced to continue with their agitation despite assurance from the Health Minister that NEET counselling dates will be announced soon.

FORDA has been demanding withdrawal of FIR against protesting doctors and announcement of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Post-Graduate counselling dates soon.

On December 28, Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya appealed to agitating doctors to return back to work as the nation was still under the attack of the COVID-19 pandemic. He also stated that NEET PG counselling will start soon. Mandaviya stated that as the case is sub-judice in Supreme Court they are not able to start NEET counselling.

FIR was filed by Delhi Police against Resident Doctors after the brutal incident of violence against Doctors during the march towards the Supreme Court of India on December 27.
