AIIMS Resident Doctors Association has also condemned the alleged violent act of Delhi Police against the doctors, who according to the association were protesting peacefully for expediting NEET PG counselling.

“By brutally thrashing and detaining the doctors, the Government and Police have taken a new low. The medical fraternity has shown exemplary sacrifice for the sake of this nation at a time when the COVID pandemic was running in the carnage. The same workforce feels backstabbed and betrayed by the duplicity of the lawmakers and the police on the issue of NEET counselling,” stated a statement by AIIMS RDA.

It further stated that Monday’s incident will be seen as an enormous blow to the zeal and enthusiasm of the medical fraternity in their fight against COVID. Hence it should be labelled as a Black Day for the entire nation.

“AIIMS RDA strongly condemns this brutality of the Police & the insensitivity of the Government towards the medical fraternity & demand immediate release of all the doctors detained with an unconditional apology from the government and the police,” the statement reads.

The association has threatened that if no adequate response from the government is received within 24 hrs they will be forced to go on strike on December 29.

On Monday, the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) organized a protest march towards the Supreme Court, in protest against the delay in NEET 2021 counselling, during which Delhi Police detained some of them. Later in the evening resident doctors again took out a march towards the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in protest against the delay in NEET-PG 2021 counselling.
