FAIMA writes to AIIMS Director to conduct INI CET Open Counselling
The Federation of All India Medical Association has written to the Director of AIIMS Delhi over the cancellation of INI-CET July 2022 open counselling.
The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has written to the Director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi and requested him to conduct INI CET 2022 Open Counselling. The letter is written on behalf of residents working at various departments of various Institutes of National Importance (INIs) of the country.
The letter reads, "We are writing to you today with a kind request to look into a matter which is very urgent, extremely important and has been disturbing the residents of various INIs for the last one week. This is to apprise you of the unfortunate sequence of events wherein doctors who qualified for the INI CET PG Entrance Examination for July 2022 session were informed of the cancellation of the Open Round of Counselling for the current session."
The letter stated that this sudden decision came as a shock to residents of INIs who were eagerly waiting for new residents to join the departments to replace the residents who have passed out of the departments in the last 6 months. The letter highlighted that this has led many 1st year junior residents to consider leaving their seats in premier INIs and take up a seat in the ongoing NEET PG 2022 counselling so that they do not have to face the increased departmental workload on their own.
FAIMA has said that a huge number of seats are remaining vacant in major clinical departments and more than 50% of seats are vacant in multiple departments of various institutes. This will lead to an immense burden on the existing workforce, predominantly the Junior Residents who have already worked tremendously during the last three waves of the pandemic.
