Final year MBBS student commits suicide in Karnataka

The deceased was a final-year MBBS student of BRIMS. He reportedly jumped from his hostel's seventh floor on Tuesday. Shriram was a topper in his class and was depressed after he had recently lost his father. He took the extreme step before his last MBBS exam.

Shriram (22), a resident of Chittaguppa taluk, was an MBBS final-year student at Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) in Karnataka. He ended his life by jumping off BRIMS hostel's seventh floor.

He was a topper in his class and was dejected and under depression after the death of his father. The investigation is going on in this case.

MBBS student committed suicide in Telangana

A few days ago a final-year MBBS student in Telangana’s Nizamabad was found dead in his hotel room. The student was identified as Dasari Harsha (22).

The police suspected it to be a death by suicide. The body of the student was sent to District General Hospital for postmortem examination. The exact reason behind Dasari Harsha taking the extreme step is not clear. No suicide note was found in this case. He was reportedly upset about some health condition for a few days.

The increasing number of suicide cases by medical students in recent times has highlighted the stress the students are going through. National Medical Commission has also noted the issue and directed medical colleges to take precautions, especially for PG medical students.

According to police, Harsha's hometown is Chintaguda village of Jinnaram mandal of Manchiryala district and his father Srinivas is in the Gulf countries for employment while his mother is a housewife.

The Nizamabad Government Medical College, Principal K Indhra said, "He was a brilliant student. The reason behind the incident not know," as reported by NDTV.
