FORDA Holds Meeting with Health Ministry Officials on NEET MDS 2024 Postponement Demand
One of the primary grievances highlighted by students is the staggering number of over 8000 aspirants deemed ineligible for the NEET MDS 2024 exam
In a bid to address the growing concerns of aspiring dental professionals, the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) India convened a pivotal meeting with officials from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) regarding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS).
Dr. Sarvesh Pandey, General Secretary of FORDA India, took to Twitter to share the development, expressing hope for a positive outcome. He tweeted, "FORDA India met with MoHFW officials regarding 'NEET MDS' with dental representatives and let's hope for a positive outcome. Please continue study."
Amidst the backdrop of this meeting, aspiring candidates for NEET MDS 2024 are clamoring for the postponement of the exam, citing various concerns including eligibility issues and the perceived lack of responsiveness from authorities.
One of the primary grievances highlighted by students is the staggering number of over 8000 aspirants deemed ineligible for the exam, raising questions about the fairness and transparency of the selection process.
Furthermore, candidates advocate for parity with NEET PG, the equivalent exam for medical postgraduate admissions, which has been rescheduled to July. They stress the psychological toll of uncertainty on their well-being and urge authorities to consider their plight.
NEET MDS Exam on March 18
As per the official schedule, NEET MDS 2024 is slated to be held on March 18, 2024, with the admit cards set to be released on March 13, 2024. However, students argue that the internship cut-off date for NEET MDS is March 31, 2024, leaving them with insufficient time to fulfill the eligibility criteria.
Despite petitions filed in the Supreme Court seeking a postponement, the apex court has deferred the decision to the Centre, urging expedited action. The Centre, in response, assured the court of their active consideration of the matter.
In light of these developments, NEET MDS aspirants and student organizations continue to demand clarity and a fair resolution to their concerns. They await an official announcement from the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) regarding the exam schedule.
The disparity in the notification period between NEET PG and NEET MDS has also been underscored, further fueling the students' call for equitable treatment and transparency in the examination process.
