The probe is on in the alleged incident of ragging at the boys’ hostel of the Government Medical College in Ramagundam College in the industrial hub of Peddapalli district on Tuesday.

As per reports, four MBBS second-year students of Government Medical College in Ramagundam were expelled from the college hostel on Wednesday for allegedly being involved in the incident of ragging.

The medical college took action based on a complaint filed by a first-year MBBS student against some of his seniors. The first-year MBBS student alleged that he was forced to cut his hair using a trimmer by four senior hostel mates at the college hostel on Tuesday.

“We have removed four MBBS second-year students from the college hostel and asked them to come to the meeting with their parents. Further course of action will be taken based on the recommendations of the committee," said Dr Hima Bindu Singh, Principal, Government Medical College, Ramagundam, as reported by The Hindu.

MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha raises ragging issue at GMC Ramagundam

In a communication addressed to the Chairman of the Telangana Legislative Council, MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha said, it has come to her notice that incidents of ragging have been on the rise within the premises of the medical college.

“Ragging, in any form, is not only a violation of human rights but also poses serious risks to the mental and physical well-being of students. It creates an atmosphere of fear and intimidation hindering the educational process and jeopardizing the future of the youth,” she stated.
