Govt may conduct separate counselling for NEET MDS 2024: DCI notice

The Dental Council of India has released a public notice that states that the government may conduct the NEET MDS 2024 counselling before counselling of NEET PG 2024.

“It is hereby informed to all MDS aspirants that the Govt. of India may conduct the counselling session for NEET-MDS 2024 separately and before NEET PG Medical Counselling,” reads the official notification.

Despite the huge demand for NEET MDS 2024 exam postponement, the examination is all set to be conducted on March 18, 2024. This year, the number of test cities has been reduced from 76 to 56.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has written to the union health minister about NEET MDS faulty eligibility criteria, inadequate preparation time, and parity with MBBS interns. FORDA has also appealed to reschedule the examination and extend the date by a reasonable amount of time so that the candidates get enough time to prepare and also the issue of ineligibility will be resolved. The Association has asked the government to reschedule it around NEET PG 2024. Also, doctors demanded to consider extending the internship cutoff date for the eligibility of around 8000 interns.

“Gross injustice!!! 8000+ interns are becoming victims of the laxity of the university & officials. For how long will the country's future be ruined like this? I request to @narendramodi ji, Please focus on this matter and allow children to appear in the exam!,” says a message by a health activist on the X platform.
