Health Minister assures NEET PG Counselling dates soon; appeals docs to call-off strike

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also come out in support of protesting doctors and written a letter to the Prime Minister to announce NEET-PG counselling dates.

Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has stated that NEET PG counselling start soon. Mandaviya stated that as the case is sub-judice in Supreme Court they are not able to start NEET counselling.

Health Minister held a meeting with all resident doctors today. After the meeting, Mandaviya held Press Conference where he informed that NEET Counseling will begin soon.

Mandaviya expressed regret over police action against protesting doctors in Delhi by Delhi Police and appealed to doctors to return back to work as the country is still facing the COVID-19 crisis.

Talking about the delay in the announcement of the NEET UG and NEET PG counselling schedule, Health Minister informed as the case is pending in apex court they are unable to announce dates. He said. “We're not able to do the counselling because the matter is sub-judice before Supreme Court. The hearing will take place on Jan 6. I hope that NEET PG counselling will start soon.”

The next hearing on NEET counselling is scheduled to be held in the Supreme Court on January 06, Mandaviya informed that the Government of India will submit its report in the SC before that.

Doctors in Delhi are protesting since December 17 demanding the announcement of NEET PG counselling dates, on December 27, Resident doctors in Delhi took out a march towards Supreme Court and towards Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya’s house in protest against the delay in NEET 2021 counselling.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also come out in support of protesting doctors and written a letter to the Prime Minister to announce NEET-PG counselling dates.
