Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College: Students held candle March for deceased MBBS student

In a tragic incident, a first year MBBS medical student of the 2022 batch of Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College Bhagalpur committed suicide by hanging himself with the help of a skipping rope in his hostel room on Saturday.

Now, a candle march protest is being held in the medical institute for Rajeev Ranjan, MBBS-1yr Student.

A health activist tweeted, "Candle March held in Jawahar Lal Nehru MedicalCollege #Bhagalpur for Rajeev Ranjan,MBBS-1yr Student,Who Allegedly died due Suicide after mental tortures& harrasment by Anatomy HOD dr Alok Sharma."

Rajiv belonged to a very poor family. Father worked as a mason and mother was an Anganwadi servant. Toxic Professors snatched away the family's only support, added another tweet by the health activist.

After the incident occurred multiple students gathered in Mayaganj Hospital and protested against the tragic incident. They even reached an event which was organised by the hospital to celebrate its 50 years. Today IMA-MSN Bihar will also organise a Twitter Campaign from 5 pm onwards. Their statement says, "College should be a journey of growth, not despair. Let's break the silence and demand change. Join the campaign, share your experience and thoughts. Join hands for Justice!."

"It's already day 4 of the protest! Why no action has been taken yet by the govt official or administration ? What are they waiting for? Where is the resignation of that toxic professor?," says a tweet.

"Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Rajeev Ranjan. Suicide is a complex issue, and we must prioritize mental health awareness and support. Let's break the stigma and advocate for a world where everyone feels valued and heard," added a tweet by IMA MSN BIHAR."
