Kota: NEET aspirant dies by suicide

Mehul Vaishnav, an 18-year-old medical aspirant from Udaipur allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room in the Vigyan Nagar Police Station area on Tuesday.

The teenager was preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam and he allegedly hanged himself sometime in the intervening nights of Monday and Tuesday, said the police.

However, no suicide note was recovered from the hostel room, police added, as reported by NDTV. 

This year, this is the 13th such case of suspected suicide by a coaching student in Kota. Last year also, as many as 15 suicide cases were reported by coaching students in Kota.

Mehul Vaishnav was a resident of Salumbar in the Udaipur district and had been preparing for NEET in a coaching institute in Kota for the past two months. He was living in a hostel in the Vigyan Nagar area. 

He was in his room on Tuesday and when he didn't come out of the room till late, others in the hostel informed the caretaker, who broke the door open and found the boy hanging from a ceiling fan.

His body was shifted to the mortuary at MBS hospital and the post-mortem will be conducted after the arrival of his family members, Circle Inspector (CI) at Vigyan Nagar Police Station Devesh Bhardwaj said. 

In yet another similar incident in Kota, a student named Aditya also died by suicide.
