MBBS in Hindi is retrograde step: FAIMA National President

Amid the grand preparations for the event on October 16, where the Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the MBBS first-year books in Hindi, the National President of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), Dr Rohan Krishnan said it is a retrograde step.

His tweet reads, "I feel that starting MBBS course In Hindi is a retrograde step & will affect the health care adversely. Any country which has opted for regional language of teaching has washed the repute of their doctors down the drain. I feel dat @NMC_IND has emerged as d worst body ever."

Madhya Pradesh Medical Education Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang said that the MBBS first-year Hindi course books would be released in a grand program at Lal Parade Ground, Bhopal on October 16.

"The first volume of books for subjects such as Physiology, Biochemistry and Anatomy are ready and students studying in the first year of MBBS will be given these books. Also, for these three subjects, the textbooks were prepared by a team of experts and the second volume of these books is in the preparation process," he said.

The state started preparing MBBS Hindi books even after getting a discouraging response from the National Medical Commission (NMC) which said that this is not a feasible option. As per reports, all 13 MP government medical colleges will teach anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry in Hindi.
