MBBS student at Maulana Azad Medical College commits suicide

A probe has been started into the matter to find the exact reason behind the tragic incident.

As per reports, a final year MBBS student at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) in New Delhi allegedly died by suicide on Monday.

The 23-year-old woman was a resident of Dwarka. Police received the information regarding the suicide at around 1:30 pm, as reported by TOI. The student reportedly hanged herself in the hostel room of the college.

"A 23-year-old has committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan. Information was received around 1:30 pm regarding suicide at MAMC in a hostel room," said the police.

As per the police, no suicide note has been found yet.

"Forensic teams have inspected the spot. No suicide note found yet. Friends and family are being questioned to ascertain the reasons behind the suicide," added the police.

"Tragic!A Final year MBBS student who is studying in Maulana Azad Medical College,#Delhi died due to #suicide! Despite of Several attempts, @NMC_IND has failed to control Suicides. How can it control it? Should the duration of sessions be reduced?," reads a message on X by a health activist doctor.

MAMC MBBS student suicide details

The MBBS student was posted in the Surgery department of Lok Nayak Hospital and was residing in the hostel of MAMC. She reportedly returned from her home in Dwarka just a day before the incident and friends have said that she brought them home-cooked food before the suicide. But when later she did not come out of her room for a long time, college authorities called the police and found about the suicide.
