Ministry of Education Constitutes High-Level Committee to Address NEET UG 2024 Paper Leak and Reform NTA
The High-Level Committee will be chaired by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman of ISRO, other distinguished members include Dr. Randeep Guleria, Former Director of AIIMS Delhi
In a proactive move towards enhancing transparency and efficiency in the conduct of examinations through the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education has constituted a High-Level Committee of Experts. This committee has been tasked with making critical recommendations aimed at reforming the examination process, improving data security protocols, and optimizing the structure and functioning of the NTA. The formation of this committee comes in the wake of the recent NEET UG paper leak controversy, which has raised significant concerns about the integrity of the examination process.
The High-Level Committee will be chaired by Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, Former Chairman of ISRO and Chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Kanpur. Other distinguished members include Dr. Randeep Guleria, Former Director of AIIMS Delhi; Prof. B J Rao, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Hyderabad; Prof. Ramamurthy K, Professor Emeritus at IIT Madras; Pankaj Bansal, Co-Founder of People Strong and Board Member of Karmayogi Bharat; Prof. Aditya Mittal, Dean of Student Affairs at IIT Delhi; and Shri Govind Jaiswal, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education.
The committee's terms of reference encompass a comprehensive review and reform of the examination process, including the analysis of end-to-end procedures and the enhancement of standard operating protocols to prevent breaches. Additionally, the committee will evaluate current data security measures and propose improvements to bolster the integrity of examination-related data. The committee will also focus on optimizing the organizational structure and functioning of the NTA, ensuring clear definition of roles and responsibilities and enhancing the grievance redressal mechanism.
Empowered to co-opt subject matter experts as needed, the committee is expected to submit its detailed report to the Ministry within two months. This initiative underscores the Ministry's commitment to upholding fairness, transparency, and data security in national-level examinations, reinforcing public trust in the examination process following the NEET UG paper leak incident.
