NEET 2021 Updates: Exam may be held in September

NEET 2021 exam date could be pushed to September due to a delay in CBSE Board Exam. In a meeting held recently, CBSE Board exam and other competitive exam dates were discussed. The Education Ministry will take the final call likely by June 1, 2021. Read to know more.

NEET 2021 aspirants are waiting for the official updates to get clarity about the exam. As per the original schedule, NEET 2021 is scheduled to be held on August 1 but NTA has yet not started registration for the exam. There is a high possibility that NEET 2021 dates could be pushed to September due to a delay in the class 12th board exam.

On May 23, 2021, a high-level meeting was held to review the status of CBSE board exam and other national-level professional exams like JEE Main and NEET 2021. The meeting was chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, along with state education ministers and other stakeholders. As per the tweet of Education Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, state governments have been asked to send suggestions for Board exams by Tuesday, May 25, 2021.

As per the report, CBSE presented two options in the meeting, first to conduct the exam from August 1 in 19 subjects, and second to conduct exam in two phases (July 15 to August 1 and August 5-26). In the second category, state government will have options to choose from two window of dates as per the covid situation in their respective states.

If the CBSE Board exam is conducted in two phases as per the second option, JEE Main April session could be held in July and JEE Main May session in the second week of September. Similarly, NEET 2021 may be pushed to September if Board exam is held in August. NEET 2021 registration will be started in July first week.

At least one month time is needed to complete whole NEET process, starting from registration and filling NEET 2021 application form, correction facility, and release of admit card for the exam. There is a high chance that NEET exam will be held in September. The Education Ministry will take final call on CBSE Board exam likely by June 1, 2021. NEET candidates would also get clarity about the exam anytime in the first week of June.

A government source was quoted as saying, “Everything rests on when the Class 12th Board exams are conducted and in what format. NTA is working on several combinations depending on different situations that may arise.”
