In Kota, an 18-year NEET aspirant from Bihar committed suicide on Tuesday by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her hostel room. No suicide note has been recovered from her room. The police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step.

The student has been identified as Shembul Parveen. As per police, the parents have said that the girl was upset over scoring low marks on tests. She came to Kota from West Champaran in Bihar in June of last year and joined a coaching centre to prepare for the entrance exam.

The girl's parents were also in Kota since a few days to find her a new hostel as she had complained about the food being served there. On Tuesday, the parents had gone out in the morning and upon returning, they found their daughter hanging from a ceiling fan in her hostel room.

A case is registered under section 174 of Cr. P.C. After the post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family. The investigation into the case is going on.

Circle Inspector (Dadabari) Rajesh Pathak said, "This is the fifth such incident that has taken place in Kota in the last two and a half months. At least 15 coaching institute students, including NEET aspirants, died by suicide in the city in 2022," as reported by NDTV.
