NEET PG 2021 Counselling latest news: Supreme Court Reserves Order In OBC, EWS case
Today was the second day of hearing of the OBC, EWS case in the Supreme Court and the court has reserved its judgement on the case.
The top court of India has reserved its judgement on the case challenging reservation policy for Other Backward Class (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) quota in medical undergraduate and postgraduate admissions.
The Supreme Court has observed today that the NEET PG Counselling 2021 has to begin in the national interest, as reported by Bar and Bench.
As the hearing goes beyond the court timing of 4 PM, Justice Chandrachud says "We are wrapping up the hearing today. We don't want to keep it for tomorrow."
Advocate VK Biju said in the court, "Even in Court, I am EWS, because I am getting few minutes to argue," as reported by Live Law.
Justice Chandrachud replied to him, "Mr Biju, if you want to argue the whole day, argue the whole day tomorrow. It will delay the order. You have to take responsibility. In this court, there is no EWS or OBC. All are equal. Whether junior or senior."
Senior Advocate P Wilson said in the court, "We are still struggling. This is my submission wrt to end of road. INR 8 lakh so far as OBC is concerned, EWS & OBC by no stretch of imagination can be considered same. They stand on a diff footing. It's like trying to consider unequal as equal."
Wilson added, "Mr Divan said PG is the end of the road for some course. For us, for the backward classes, the road has not even started, even after 75 years of independence."
