NEET PG 2021: SC dismisses plea seeking special stray round

NEET PG 2021: As was expected from yesterday's court proceedings and the statements made by the bench of justices MR Shah and Aniruddha Bose, the top court of India has dismissed the plea seeking a special stray round to fill 1,456 vacant seats.

"Granting a stray round of counselling for NEET PG 2021 vacant seats will affect public health, can't compromise medical education " said the bench today while pronouncing the final verdict on the case.

The bench had said earlier, โ€œCan it be said that for a three-year course, admission can be granted after more than one year has elapsed? Doctors should be well trained. There cannot be any compromise with education as it canโ€™t be that they are trained for less than three years considering the impact it has on the health of the people.โ€

MCC must ensure no seat remains vacant, says SC

Though the court agreed that it is the responsibility of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to ensure that all seats get fulfilled. In fact, during the proceedings, the court also slammed MCC and said that they are playing with the future of students.

"Even if the single course has remained vacant, it must not remain unfilled, It's your duty to see that they don't remain vacant. You're playing with the future of students. What would you get in leaving the seat vacant when we are in need of doctors? Where are we leading? Why is there no streamline? And stress less the education system. Do you know the stress level of the students and the parents?" the court had said during the proceedings.

Moreover, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) submitted an affidavit yesterday that conducting NEET PG 2021 special stray round would not be possible as the software is closed now and the refund process is already initiated.
