NEET-PG 2022: Doctors association write to Health Minister seeking 2 month postponement
5000 interns from Kerala, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand are ineligible to write the NEET PG due to a delay in the completion of their internship
An association of doctors from Delhi have sent a letter to Union Health Minister seeking postponement of the NEET PG exam due to delay in completion of internships in some states and delay in completion of NEET PG 2021 counselling. The aspirants are demanding two months' postponement of the exam.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Postgraduate), NEET-PG, is scheduled to be held on May 21 for admission to various postgraduate Doctor of Medicine, Master of Surgery and diploma courses at various government and private medical colleges in the country.
The NEET- PG aspirants are demanding postponement of the examination as the counselling for 2021 is yet to get over, on the other hand over 5000 medical interns are yet to complete their internship thus making them ineligible for the entrance test.
Delhi Medical Association (DMA) has sent a letter to Mansukh Mandavlya, Union Health Minister regarding the postponement of NEET PG 2022.
In the letter, they have stated that 5000 interns from Kerala, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand are ineligible to write the NEET PG due to a delay in the completion of their internship owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The NEET-PG 2021 is likely to end on May 3 after a fresh mop-up round, thus leaving little time for aspirants to prepare.
The letter states that the NEET PG 2021 AIQ is expected to end on May 3 after holding a fresh mop-up round, state mop-up rounds and stray vacancy rounds. “There will be insufficient time for the remaining PG aspirants to prepare for the NEET PG 2022 exam, which is expected to be held on May 21,” reads the letter.
“We, therefore request you to consider postponing the NEET PG 2022 exams by another 2 months to provide sufficient time for the students to prepare for the exams and also provide an opportunity for the serving interns from the aforementioned five states to appear for the exam this year itself,” the doctors association has urged Health Minister.
