NEET PG 2022: Plea alleges discrepancies in scores, SC refuses to stay counselling

While hearing the plea challenging the decision of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBE) to not release the NEET PG 2022 answer key and question paper, the top court of the country has refused to stay the counselling process. The petitioner has alleged serious discrepancies in NEET PG 2022 scores. However, Justice Chandrachud refused to grant a stay on the counselling and said that the same would have far-reaching consequences.

The petition was filed by a group of doctors who after completing their MBBS course have registered under the State Medical Council. They alleged that though there are serious mismatches in the scores, NBE is not granting re-evaluation when it is categorically mentioned that the candidates can challenge the NEET PG answer keys, as reported by Live Law.

The doctors said that they are being deprived of their constitutional and legal right to information.

On counsel's suggestion, the Supreme Court bench comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and AS Bopanna put it up for a final hearing on August 25, 2022.

Ms Bansal also said that though there is no official communication regarding the schedule of NEET PG 2022 counselling, however, media reports suggest that the counselling can start from September 1 and if the hearing is on August 25, she requested the court to stay the NEET PG 2022 counselling which the court has refused.
