NEET PG 2023 postponement: FAIMA writes to Health Ministry

The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has written a letter to the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and demanded to postpone the NEET PG 2023 by 2-3 months and also to revisit the revised internship completion deadline for the entrance exam.

Recently, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) confirmed the extension of the NEET PG 2023 internship completion deadline to June 30, 2023, from the earlier announced March 31, 2023. However, as per reports, still many interns will remain ineligible to participate in the exam.

FAIMA letter reads, "If the exam is conducted on the official said date, there will be nearly 10000 potential eligible MBBS doctors who won't be able to write the life deciding exam and will be back in their career for around 1 year which will be a huge loss to the existing resident doctors, work hours, patient load and healthcare system of the country."

The letter also highlighted that the NEET PG 2022 stray vacancy round counselling was conducted on January 10, 2023, in which many NEET PG aspirants participated, due to which lots of NEET PG aspirants aren't able to give ample amount of time to prepare for the upcoming NEET PG 2023 exam scheduled on March 5, 2023.

"FAIMA requests the concerned authority to kindly consider the request and do the needful by postponing the exam by 2-3 months and re-consideration of eligibility criteria of interns to make them eligible for NEET PG 2023," added the letter.
