NEET UG 2023: Will Application Form Last Date Extend? Know Chances Here

NEET 2023 application form submission last date was April 6. A lot of students and stakeholders urged NTA to extend or reopen the application form process. Responding to requests, NTA will reopen the application process from April 11 to April 13.

Will NTA Extend NEET 2023 Application Deadline?

NEET UG 2023 application form submission ended on April 6. Students who were filling the NEET application form on the last date faced technical glitches and server snags, due to which they could not submit the NEET 2023 application form. After the conclusion of the NEET 2023 application process, there was a barrage of requests to extend the application form last date. However, NTA did not extend the NEET 2023 application form last date at that time, rather opened the application correction process on April 8. On April 10, over 200 students sent a formal letter to NTA urging the authorities to reopen the NEET 2023 application process. As a response to it, NTA has stated that the application process of NEET 2023 will be reopened from April 11 to April 13, 11.59 PM. Announcing the same, NTA stated, "Representations have been received from the candidates to open the registration window again for applying for NEET (UG) – 2023 as they could not complete their registration due to various unavoidable reasons. In view of supporting the students’ community, it has been decided to re-open the registration for receiving online Application Forms for NEET (UG) – 2023. This opportunity is being provided for all those candidates who could not complete their Registration earlier as well as for those candidates who want to apply as fresh candidates for the NEET (UG) - 2023."

NEET 2023 Application Correction Window Opens at neet.nta.nic.in; Facility Open Till April 10

NTA released the NEET 2023 application form on March 6 and has given exactly one month to complete the process. To provide maximum opportunity to candidates to apply for the largest and sole undergraduate medical entrance exam, NTA is likely to postpone the NEET UG 2023 application deadline. However, candidates were advised not to wait for NTA to extend the application deadline and complete the NEET 2023 application process within the given deadline of April 6.

Students Request NTA to Reopen NEET 2023 Application 

As soon as the NEET 2023 application window was closed, students started demanding for an extension or reopening of the process. While some candidates mentioned that they could not pay the fee due to server error, some other candidates said that they could not upload the documents or complete the last stage of the NEET application process. Some applicants mentioned that they could not complete the process due to server error and the registration window closed at 9 PM, while the fee could be paid till 11.50 PM.

NEET Application Last Date Extension Trend

The following table brings the NEET last date of application vis-a-vis the extended date. This would help aspirants and stakeholders to predict whether the NEET 2023 application deadline will be extended or not.

As observed from the above table, NTA extended the NEET deadlines in the past years, hence it is most likely that it would be extended for this year as well. Let us take a look at the key reasons why NTA extended the application deadlines earlier.

Candidate Requests: Each year, NEET aspirants request the exam authorities to extend the application deadline and this year would be no different. Hence, to give the aspirants an additional opportunity to apply for the exam, NTA is likely to extend the NEET 2023 application last date.

Addition of courses: In 2021, it was announced that BSc Nursing course admission would take place through NEET UG scores. For this reason, NTA had extended the NEET application deadline this year. Since there was no such incident of the addition of courses or a revision of the admission process or criteria through NEET UG, this year, NTA has not extended the application form submission date.

Change in eligibility criteria or any other factor: Another scenario wherein there is a chance to extend the last date of submitting the NEET 2023 application form is if there is a change in the eligibility criteria or any other admission factor. Recently, NTA announced that based on the Supreme Court judgement, OCI candidates are eligible to take medical admission for seats reserved for Indian citizens. However, since the announcement was made earlier, NTA did not change the NEET 2023 application last date.

After the conclusion of the application process, NTA will open the NEET 2023 application correction window tentatively in the second week of April. The application correction facility can be availed only by those candidates who have completed the process by paying the application fee, for the specific editable fields.

NEET 2023 exam will be held on May 7. Even though several students have been requesting for postponing the NEET exam date, NTA has not responded to the request and it based on the official notices, it can be confirmed that the NEET 2023 exam date will not be postponed.
