New medical college at Chikkaballapur Taluk to offer free 100 MBBS seats

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to unveil the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Chikkaballapur Taluk on March 25. The college will offer 100 MBBS seats free of cost from 2023-24. Other than MBBS, the college will also provide medical PG, nursing and paramedical courses. 

The Sathya Sai Sarala Memorial teaching hospital with 350 beds is also part of the medical college.

The college will have 50 of its seats filled under the government quota and the remaining 50 will be under the private/management quota. No fees will be collected from all 100 students. They will have to agree to serve for five years in the college hospital after their graduation," said chief liaison officer Govinda Reddy, as reported by TOI.

Prashanthi Balamandira Trust runs the college and it will provide the study material, books, and hostel facilities to students free of cost, he added.

The college is situated at Sathya Sai Village new Muddenahalli, about 70 km from Bengaluru. It has been constructed less than a year after Union home minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone in April with an estimated budget of INR 350 crore. The authorities have worked overtime to ensure the timely completion of the institute.
