As a special consideration, PG students of batch 2020-21 may be exempted from one out of the two requirements (poster presentation and reading a paper at a national/state conference), said NMC.

NMC announces relaxation for PG students batch 2020-21

National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a public notice for providing relaxation to the PG students of batch 2020-21 in poster presentation, read a paper at a national/state conference or submission of a research paper for publication.

NMC said that in receipt of a number of references from medical colleges/institutes, owing to Covid-19 pandemic, seeking relaxation and/or clarification on clause 13.9 of PGMER, 2000, it is stated that as a special consideration, postgraduate students of batch 2020-21 may be exempted from one out of the two requirements (poster presentation and read a paper at a national/state conference). However, the submission of the research paper is mandatory.

Clause 13.9 of PGMER, 2000 states - "13.9 A postgraduate student of a postgraduate degree course in broad specialities/super specialties would be required to present on poster presentation, to read on paper at a national/state conference and to present one research paper which should be published/accepted for publication/sent for publication during the period of his postgraduate studies so as to make him eligible to appear at the postgraduate degree examination."

NMC clarifies on stipend during maternity leave to PG students

The commission has said that as per clause 13.3 of PGMER, 2000, the matter of grant of leave to PG students shall be regulated as per respective state government rules. They should be paid a stipend for the extended period of training if the same has not been provided during the leave period.
