NMC Approves 44 New Medical Colleges; Increases MBBS Seats in 19 Institutes
MARB has granted approval for MBBS admission at 44 new medical colleges along with an increase of MBBS seats in 19 existing medical colleges for the academic year 2024-25.
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a notification concerning the MBBS seat matrix for the academic year 2024-25. The notification mentioned the details of colleges which were issued Letter of Permission (LoP) initially by UG, MARB and the Letter of Permission (LoP) issued to the colleges after the decision of the First Appeal Committee has been mentioned in the enclosure. The details PDF includes the approval for the establishment of new medical colleges, the name of the medical college/ institute, letter of permission (LoP) before and after the first appeal.
"The details of colleges which were issued Letter of Permission (LoP) initially by UG, MARB and Letter of Permission (LoP) issued to the colleges after the decision of the First Appeal Committee are enclosed herewith. All concerned medical colleges and health institutions are requested to kindly take note of the same." The official notification reads.

NMC has notified that 44 new medical colleges have been granted approval. Out of these, 24 medical colleges would have 50 MBBS seats, 11 medical colleges would have 100 MBBS seats while the remaining 9 medical colleges would have 150 MBBS seats for the academic session 2024-25.
Besides, 19 existing medical colleges have been granted NMC approval for increased MBBS seats. Out of the 19 medical colleges, 14 institutes have additional 50 MBBS seats, one medical college has been approved for 72 MBBS seats while two medical colleges will have an additional 100 MBBS seats. Further, one college will have additional 20 MBBS seats while one college will have additional 30 MBBS seats, as reported by Medical Dialogue.
